One of the hardest things to run from is your mind. If you are anything like me, your mind tends to wonder off in the wrong directions; which can ruin your day, your week, and send you off in the completely wrong direction. Also if you are anything like me, you have let your mind control your emotions for far to long, letting it control you in ways that it shouldn’t. Making scenarios up about your life that are not even true! I am not ashamed to admit it and neither should you!
Your mind will always believe everything you tell it. So start feeding it faith, truth, feed it with love. Changing our mindset should be something we constantly are trying to perfect. It is something that takes total control everyday. This is something that has taken me years and years to comprehend, and everyday I am still working on my mind.
Changing your mindset does not happen overnight, you do not just wake up one day randomly and decide to change it. It is something that you work on daily, it is a daily task. I’ve learned if I let my mind control myself everyday, then everyday I will more than likely have a bad day. Because that is what our minds tend to do, wonder off and think of everything that you should not be thinking about.
Our minds can control our lives if we let them. We cannot solve our problems with the same mindset we used when we created them.
Think about that.
Some ways I train my mind every morning when I wake up are:
1.Wake up and do not go directly to your social media feed.
I say this seriously, social media is the one reason why our mind is our worse enemy. Social media is a highlight reel of everyones life, which makes your mind think that you are not good enough, that your life is not good enough. So do not start your day on it, instead wake up, take your shower or drink your coffee or get your children out of their cribs and feed them, turn on the news (then you will more than likely see how very blessed you are). Do whatever you do in the mornings first without getting on social media in bed first. This really helped my mindset game. Social media is not a bad thing at all, just don’t start your day with it. Wait until you’ve fed your mind in other ways first.
2. Get into fellowship and prayer for the morning.
If you are wondering why everyday you just are not feeling it, everyday just seems to be a bad day, then let me tell you a little secret….every morning start with a fellowship (devotional, journaling, reading the bible) whatever it could be. Whether you only have 5 minutes or 30 to read, starting the day with a little fellowship and prayer will make your mindset start in the right direction. Maybe pray about changing your mindset and your days to have good ones??? Just a thought 😉
PS: if you have not already figured out, I am a big writer on the man above, so if you do not like it, I am not going to quit, so maybe this blog is not for you!
3. I am alive and awake in my own life.
Another big change for the mindset is to quit comparing our lives with another persons life. And yes this can relate with #1 on the staying off of social media, but a lot of times it may not even be social media that is causing our minds to wonder off in the wrong direction. We just start thinking about another humans blessed life, and let me say if you do not look around and count the blessings that are right in front of you, you will never be happy. You have to be happy where you are in this stage of life. When I look around in the mornings, yes I may have a screaming baby, but at least I have a baby, I may have a home that is not finished yet (and probably will not ever be completely finished) but hey I am blessed because my family has a place to lay their head at night. Do you have running water? Food and drinks? Start counting and being thankful for your little blessings if you ever want big blessings honey!
4. When your mind starts wondering off again, TAKE CONTROL OF IT.
For me this is always my tough one. Sometimes we do not even realize our mind taking off, we do not even realize how far our minds have wondered until we are already too far. If you catch yourself doing this, reroute it, starting thinking of other things, what your children are doing, what you are doing that evening. Just try to reroute it. Maybe stop what you are doing in that moment, go for a walk, get on the floor and play with your children. It’s all about taking control and stopping the wondering.
5. Control your social media.
When you finally decide to get onto your social media for the day, just not first thing in the morning, if you find that your mind really starts to wonder when you get onto it, then maybe get off of it?? Or if you just can’t and it’s a habit (like me), take control over your feed. If following or being friends with somebody makes your mind start wondering in a negative direction, unfollow them. I have really revamped my social media, because I always found myself wondering off in it. So if there were people who made me feel little, I would unfollow them, and now I am just following people who inspire me to be better and to inspire me in all positive directions. I encourage you to do that as well. For me it was also famous people, they can really make you feel like your life is not a blessing. Just take control over what your mind consumes daily.
Changing your mindset does not happen overnight, it is a day to day battle. Use these 5 ways to help you in the change of your mind. If you want to live a happier blessed life, it really all starts with your mindset. I have learned this over the last couple months when I really wanted to start taking control over my own life, and you should too.
Your mindset is the most important factor in achieving your goals and dreams. Work on it daily. Period.
