First Christmas season in our first home absolutely means we decorated early for the holidays! I waited as long as I could before splurging on everything Christmas. Target had their Christmas decorations out before Halloween, and I tell you what I wanted to decorate then, but I did good and waited until after Halloween at least. The cold weather makes us stay inside, so while we are hibernating indoors, I wanted it to be a cozy and comfy feeling for us. There is absolutely nothing more “homey” feeling than a lit Christmas tree and stockings hung over the fireplace. Ahh, my favorite time of the year!
There are a couple different ways to decorate your home for the holidays to add the warmth and charm we are all looking for when doing so. I got some ideas off Pinterest and Target on what exactly I was wanting to achieve. Below are all the different ways to decorate for the Christmas Season.
1. “Merry Lane” so they call it, which includes more reds and bright greens in decorating. Vibrant holiday colors in the tree, stockings, etc. I love this way of decorating, but for those who know me well, it’s just not me or our home. This theme will bring a bright spirited tone to your house along with playful fun characters to decorate with:
2. “Classic Farmhouse” this theme will be most popular for a lot of my readers for so many reasons. I love the products that are used in this theme for decorating for the holidays. You do not have to live in a rural area to use the charm of the farmhouse look, this way of decorating for the Christmas season will for sure make anyone walking into your home, feel right at home. I love the wooden and rustic decor within the classic or modern farmhouse theme, and of course adore the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia line. I actually use a little bit of the modern farmhouse look in my own home.
3. “Enchanted Eve” this holiday way to decorate your home is absolutely beautiful and very chic. This one I love but did not use because living with two boys, it is definitely on the feminine side. With this theme your house is sure to shine bright and sparkle with a touch of glitter and whimsy. The Enchanted Eve color palette falls into the rose golds, golds, whites, pearls, pinks, shimmers, and shiny surfaces. You will be sure to show your holiday spirit by sparkling bright with this Christmas home decor.
4. “Toymaker” or as I call it, the normal Christmas home decor. This Christmas home decor is what I call the growing up holiday look. Toymaker theme is your classic holiday decor from the greens, reds, and whites palette. This is the seasonal timeless look, the “homey” feeling this decor gives your house is the ultimate.
5.“White Christmas” the way I decorated my home for the Christmas season. This holiday home decor theme has a color palette of white, greys, cremes, golds, tans, camels, greenery, and some silvers. My home is completely the color palette of this theme: greys, whites, and cremes. I always say Liam is going to see in black and white. My favorite part of this holiday look for your home is the fully frosted Christmas tree, along with the cable knit stockings and tree cover. This Christmas season make your home feel cozy and classy with the White Christmas holiday theme and home decor.

These are just a couple of the most used Christmas themes. I love all the holiday decor options and how there are so many ways to decorate your home for the holiday season!
So far Liam has not messed with the tree and decorations that much, as for our dog Hunter she has chewed on the present figures below the tree. So every time we leave the house for long periods of time all the Christmas decorations on the floor and the throw pillows on the couch get shut in a room. We will see how old this gets by the time Christmas arrives. Trying to figure out if having a dog is worth all the trouble. HAHA.
As for the outside of our home, it is still fully decorated for fall. The rotting pumpkins and hay bale on the porch should probably go soon.
I hope you found inspiration for your home and the holiday season from this post!
xoxo,
Kylie
