Researchers say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or as I believe my cup of coffee. I must respectfully disagree with this popular fact. The single most critical meal you and I should consume on a daily basis consists of a focused time with God in His Word and in prayer.
I post a lot on my social media platforms of quotes and readings from my devotional and journal that I read and write in, in the mornings.
I normally have people thank me for the post because it’s just what they needed to read that morning, which I think it is something we should all read in the mornings or just everyday. I believe a devotional and a journal a day can really be the medicine your soul needs each day. I find myself overwhelmed during the day a lot, raising my little guy and all that comes with starting a website and raising a wild man. Then I remember the journal and devotional I read hours before and something within that calms me. That is essentially why coming into prayer with a devotional and a journal each morning is crucial. I wanted to share my two readings with you guys because I really think these two books each day can help change your perspective, because I know it did mine.
Not only do I just want to share the love of these two books with you guys, but I have had a lot of messages wondering what it is I read and post about each morning.
Below is the devotional I read each morning along with the journal I write in each morning:
We should always have something to remind us of how great our Lord is each morning and also a journal to remember the things we are grateful and blessed over. I know these 2 readings will do that for you.
Some of you may ask what exactly a devotional and journal is. Here is your answer: a devotional is used during daily prayer or meditation. The daily passage helps focus your thoughts and guides your prayers, helping you tune out other distractions so you can give God all of your attention. A journal is one simple practical and cost-free way to process your emotions, gain insight and clear your head. It is particularly good for liberating yourself from self-limiting beliefs and thoughts, healing emotional pain, finding new meaning and purpose and supporting spiritual growth.
The podcast I listen to by Rachel Hollis states that if you are overwhelmed, have anxiety, or just are not living every day happy, that reading a devotional and writing in a journal every single day is the first step to overcoming each of these life disasters.
I highly recommend you add these into your morning routine, just like I did mine, you will not regret it!
